From Wood Fired Pizzas to Fine Italian Cuisine in Hawthorn & East Kew

Di Palma’s History

Di Palma’s was first established in 1988 in Hawthorn, where it was one of the first restaurants in Melbourne to serve gourmet wood fired pizzas and has earned its reputation on them. Even from the early days, we have always used the freshest ingredients and provided excellent service to our patrons. The homely and cosmopolitan ambience and varied menu selections has been our hallmark.
In 2000, we moved to 686-684 High Street, East Kew to our newly renovated premises. Since then the restaurant has became better, bigger and busier than ever. The success of this venture inspired John Dipalma to return to Hawthorn and open a second restaurant at 779 Glenferrie Road Hawthorn.

Since our inception, we were popular with patrons because we provided them a memorable yet affordable dining experience, our popularity has gone from strength to strength. Our restaurants cater for people from all walks of life and tastes, and they keep coming back, so we know we’re doing something right.
Di Palma’s success as a local icon comes down to providing patrons with quality and variety. As we have evolved over the past 20 years, we have tailored our offerings to meet the needs of our clientele. Apart from a great place to have a meal with friends or a romantic dinner with a loved one, we also offer exceptional private dining rooms and function catering.
